Calling Photographers!

The Coral Gables Museum invites you to submit your photography work to the contest, Capture Coral Gables for a chance to exhibit at the Museum and to win exciting prizes, including a Grand Prize Special Edition Leica D-Lux (Type 109) Solid Gray camera!

Capture Coral Gables is a skill-based photography contest open to artists of all ages and background. We are looking for fresh lenses that can update our image of Coral Gables to what the city is today.

Photographic categories include:
Portraiture, Street Photography, Nature/Landscape,
Night Photography, and Digital Photo Manipulation.
There will also be a People’s Choice Award and
the Grand Prize, who will receive a Leica camera.

Deadline for entries is January 6th, 2019.

Selected photographs will be exhibited at the
Coral Gables Museum, January 18th - 29th, 2019.

Opening Reception: Friday, January 18th, 7-9pm

HOW TO ENTER

YOUR WORK’S INFORMATION:

  • Title

  • Location (which MUST be within the City of Coral Gables)

  • Date photograph was taken

  • Statement or Inspiration for this piece (no longer than 250 words)

  • One image of the work (it must be no bigger than 1200 pixels in either side and in JPEG or JPG format).

  • An entry fee of $25 for each submission. (Maximum three submissions allowed.)

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Entries may be submitted between November 1st, 2018 and January 6, 2019.

  • Photographs must fit into one of the 2019 contest categories, as follows: Portraiture, Street Photography, Nature/Landscape, Night Photography and Digital Photo Manipulation.

  • Photographs must be taken within the City of Coral Gables. They should be no older than two years old and shouldn’t have been exhibited or won an award within the City of Coral Gables.

  • Images of the photographs must be submitted in digital format – no print or slide submissions will be accepted.

  • Submitted images must be in JPEG or JPG format, and no bigger than 1200 pixels in either side.

  • Submitted images must be labeled as: last name_first name_CONTEST CATEGORY.
    (For instance: Smith_Annie_PORTRAITURE)

  • There is a limit of 3 entries per person.

NOTIFYING FINALISTS

Applicants will be notified both via email and by phone on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019. For this purpose, Museum staff will use the contact information provided by the applicants in the entry form. 

Finalists will be asked to send a full-resolution copy of the selected photograph (smaller side - 16”; larger side - 20”, 300 DPI), in order for it to be professionally printed and framed, by noon on January 14th.

*It is highly recommended that you prepare your image beforehand so that, if selected, you have enough time to deliver it to the Museum by noon on January 14th.

OPENING RECEPTION AND AWARDS CEREMONY

Prize winners will be announced at the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on January 18th, 2019 – 7–9pm.
